PLANS have been submitted for another large-scale housing development in East Yorkshire.

Broadvale Developments and JG Hatcliffe And Partners want to build up to 120 new homes, including 25 per cent affordable housing, in two stages on land south east of Henry Thirsk Amenity Centre, in The Balk, in Pocklington.

The plans are for the fourth phase of a larger development.

Jonathan Atkinson, of J.G. Hatcliffe and Partners, said: “It is a natural progression, having already provided the roundabout and infrastructure on earlier phases.

“We have confidence in the housing market of Pocklington.”

The first phase, consisting of 99 new homes and a doctors’ surgery, is now complete.

The second phase for 222 homes is well underway, as is work on the third phase, which will feature 55 homes.

The sites for all four phases are situated to the south and south east of the town.

The phase four site, known as POC-G, has been earmarked for housing development in the East Riding Local Plan.

It would offer a range of house types, including two, three, four and five- bedroom homes.

The plans would see a central area of equipped play space for children and another area of recreational space created on the site.

As part of phase three and four, the applicants are planning to extend the playing fields next to Henry Thirsk Amenity Centre which is home to Pocklington Town AFC.

Access to the phase four site would be via both The Balk and Burnby Lane, which would eventually be connected by a road running through the development.

The planning application, which was recently submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is for outline planning permission only.

It comes after Bellway Homes’ plans to build 323 houses and flats on land off Yapham Road in Pocklington were recently given the go-ahead by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
