This collection of photos looks back at a lost but fondly-remembered York firm: Wrights butchers.
For many years, the company had a factory at Skelton and shops around the city, including in Bridge Street, Acomb, Clifton, Whip-ma-Whop-ma-gate and Blossom Street.
Today, they are no more, although a doorway mosaic remains in Blossom Street, and the sign above the Bridge Street shop was removed only last year.
In 2012, there was a flurry of letters to The Press about Wrights, with former staff and customers sharing memories. You can read a selection here.
