A SCHEME to help older York pet owners when they are poorly or have other emergencies has held a fundraising sale at a York church hall.
Keep Your Pet, a partnership between Age UK York, Age UK Selby and RSPCA York and District Branch, raised about £300 through the weekend event at St Edward the Confessor Church in Tadcaster Road.
Julia Cluderay, one of the organisers, said the money would help pay for things such as pet food or treatment for animals at the vet.
Sally Hutchinson, Chief Officer at Age UK York, said said older people often worried about caring for their animals when they were unwell, and Keep Your Pet’s trained volunteers offered services such as dog walking, feeding animals and taking them to the vet.
