THE latest ‘door’ on York’s biggest ever advent calendar is based on The Legend of Zelda - a Nintendo video game.

It was opened oN Thursday at ...give the dog a bone, a shop in Fossgate.

Assistant manager Hannah Wallace said it was based on an enlarged poster on sale in the shop, divided into four sections to go in four different parts of a window at the shop, which was a ‘treasure trove of geekery,’ selling posters and brand memorabilia.

A giant ‘living’ advent calendar is being created at 25 shops, bars and other businesses around the city by Make It York.

A window is being revealed each day at 11am until December25, with pictures posted in The Press and online at thepress.co.uk along with advice on which windows to seek out next.

Following the revealing of the final window on Christmas Day, readers can have their say on their favourite, and the winning business will receive £1,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice. Friday's window will be unveiled at 11am at Hunter Gee Holroyd Hunter Chartered Accountants in Museum Street.
