THE UKIP MEP accused of assaulting a fellow Yorkshire and Humber MEP has claimed that the police investigation into the incident will clear his name.
Mike Hookem said he had “no problem with any fair inquiry as it will demonstrate that I did not hit Steven Woolfe.”
Mr Woolfe was a UKIP member when he collapsed at the European Parliament’s Strasbourg headquarters following an argument between the two men at the European Parliament and was taken to hospital. He has since resigned from the party.
European Parliament president Martin Schulz has referred the matter to the French police.
