A woman lay down in front of traffic on a major road in York after drinking, York magistrates heard.

Carla Louise Graham, 40, was clearly drunk as she obstructed cars in Wigginton Road on October 2, said Martin Butterworth, prosecuting.

She was abusive towards paramedics called to help her and had to be arrested by police officers. She skipped bail and was arrested again on a court warrant.

Graham, of Pottery Lane, York, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly, and failure to attend court on October 20. She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £20 statutory surcharge.

York Press:

For her, Lee-Anne Robins-Hicks said because she had been arrested on the warrant at 5am on Sunday she had spent more than a day in a police cell before her appearance yesterday.

She remembered very little of the incident because she had drunk too much. She was remorseful for her actions. She had failed to attend court on October 20 because she had thought her case was listed on a later date.
