A CITY-CENTRE brewery is to host a fundraiser for devastated hurricane victims.

Brew York, in Walmgate, is the chosen venue for Haven’s charity night to support relief efforts in Haiti in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, the category-five Hurricane which battered the island leaving more than 1,000 people dead.

A quiz and raffle will take place on Wednesday, October 26, and all money raised will go towards rebuilding farms and homes, and tackling the spread of diseases which are already beginning to take hold.

Haven is based in Haiti and has been embedded in the community since it was struck by an earthquake in 2009.

In recent years, they have been focusing their work on empowering the people of Haiti to build strong livelihoods.

Doors open at 6pm and entry is £5.

Anyone willing to donate a prize for the raffle should contact Gemma Turnbull or James Turnbull by phoning 07770 520892 or emailing jturnbull913@gmail.com
