A SHORT film showing footage of York’s historic past is to be shown in a new ‘“Little Cinema” which has been created at the Treasurer’s House.
The film, created by the Yorkshire Film Archive, shows the Lord Mayor of York from 1959, taking two children to several key places in the city.
The evocative black and white footage shows the chauffeur opening the car door as they arrive at Treasurer’s House. “Among this footage are images of Treasurer’s House, archive photos of Frank Green, shots of St William’s College and footage of other iconic parts of York,” said a spokeswoman. “It’s a snapshot of a time gone by.
“The film is a brand new addition to the popular Demolition and Restoration display at the National Trust house, next to York Minster.”
The cinema opens on Saturday.
