A NORTH Yorkshire development welcomed a royal visitor yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester visited Chain Lane Community Hub and The Wilf Ward Family Trust’s new development, Sherburn House.
He was particularly interested in the development of the site, the excellent partnership working between the two community organisations and architectural and engineering challenges of the Wilf Ward build.
The Duke’s visit was part of a day of appointments, which included a visit to King James’ School in Knaresborough.
Chain Lane Community Centre was rescued from demolition in 2009 by significant community action and the building was saved through an investment package from the Social Investment Business.
Funding for the full redevelopment was secured by the sale of land to Wilf Ward Family Trust.
