AN AWARD-WINNING pub chain has named the day when it will open its doors in York.

The Botanist is set to open on Monday, November 21, in historic Stonegate, as part of the Mulberry Hall building.

The pub and restaurant, operated by The New World Trading Company, will cover a total of 5,000 sq ft and have 80 covers on the ground floor.

Chris Hill, chief executive of The New World Trading Company, said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring The Botanist concept to York, as we feel the character and atmosphere of the city fits perfectly with the brand.

“It’s great to be able to bring so many jobs to the city,” he said.

The company expects to create 60 jobs in York, and recruitment days were held on October 4 and 5.

The chain said it would also host live music, with daily energetic evening gigs and lazy Sunday afternoon sessions.
