FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire in a flat which is believed to have been caused by candles.
Two fire crews were called to the ground floor flat in Lord Mayors Walk shortly before 3pm yesterday, where there was a fire involving curtains.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the curtains are believed to have set fire "due to careless use of candles."
Firefighters used one house reel, two breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation fan to put out the flames.
Nobody was reported as injured.
