I WATCHED the Olympic super heavyweight boxing bout on TV featuring our own Joe Joyce and the Frenchman Tony Yoka.
Joe Joyce is a wonderful role model for today’s youth. University degree and an all-round good guy.
Having said that I also listened to Anthony Joshua and there we have a future world champion, articulate and knowledgeable.
But as the fight progressed I realised that Joe was not a fighter in the same mould as Anthony Joshua.
He seemed to me like a mechanical fighter, with no instinct to change things around.
I would have loved to have seen our Joe give the arrogant Frenchman a good hiding. He kept on lifting his right arm aloft in victory even before the fight was over.
But well done, Joe, on your silver medal performance.
