THE head girl of a York secondary school is bidding to triumph in a national pageant for teenagers.
Madi Clarke, 17, is currently Miss Teen York Galaxy and hopes to win the national competition to take the title in England.
The Archbishop Holgate pupil - whose parents foster children - says she wants to use the role to raise awareness of the importance of fostering.
Madi said she believes pageants give young women opportunities in life. She said: “I think it’s developed from a time in the 1980s when it was men judging women. Now it gives woman opportunities to talk about issues they care about.”
As part of her role she is currently working to raise money for The Christie cancer charity and will hold various charity fundraisers for the next few months.
Madi was a previous finalist for Miss Teen GB.
