POSTAL services have beaten their targets for the York area in the first few months of this year.
The Royal Mail’s Quality of Service report for the first three months of the financial year 2016/17 show it got 94.5 per cent of all First Class mail in the YO postcode areas delivered the next working day - beating the target of 93 per cent.
York also beat the national average, which saw Royal Mail deliver 93.3 per cent of First Class post on time across the country.
National figures also show second class mail is being delivered on time, with 99 per cent of letters getting to their destinations within three working days.
Royal Mail’s operations director Rob Jenson, Operations Director said: “Our postmen and women work extremely hard to deliver to some of the most demanding Quality of Service standards in the whole of Europe. We remain the only UK delivery company to publish our Quality of Service and we are proud to do so.
“We are more focused than ever on continuously improving and maintaining high standards of service for our customers.”
The figures are prepared by independent researchers TNS Global.
