ALEXANDER O'Neal is moving the date of his York Barbican concert forward from August 4 2017 to the new date of April 8.

The 62-year-old singer, songwriter and arranger from Minneapolis, Minnesota date will be marking the 30th anniversary of his 1987 album Hearsay by performing one of the great rhythm and blues records of all time with his nine-piece band.

Hearsay spent more than two years in the UK album charts and was certified triple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry after selling 700,000 copies and launching no fewer than seven charting singles: Fake, Criticize, Never Knew Love Like This, The Lovers, (What Can I Say) To Make You Love Me and Sunshine.

Hearsay began O'Neal's "special relationship" with Britain, where he still holds the record for an African-American performer selling out six straight nights at Wembley Arena.

Tickets will be on sale at £28 to £36.40 on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office but a release date is yet to be confirmed.
