THE Sherburn and villages U3A has now reached a milestone since it was started six years ago, with the enrolment of its 500th member, Karen Packham.
The group is a member of the University of the Third Age, a national organisation which gives educational help to people in the later stages of their lives, including retirement.
The Sherburn group meets monthly, with members aged from their fifties to their late eighties. Its various 50 education groups meet on occasions to learn about subjects ranging from wine and art appraisal to walking and computers.
Chairman Liz Sibson said: “We have a very enthusiastic membership, which take part in the various education groups.”
The club holds regular meetings on the third Thursday of the month in the Eversley Park Centre, in Sherburn-in-Elmet.
