A FORMER cancer patient has had his head shaved to raise hundreds of pounds for the charity which helped him get through gruelling treatment.
Ron Earnsshaw, 46, from the Hull Road area of York, said he underwent surgery and chemotherapy after being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2009.
He said he felt really ill, to the point where he ‘felt at the end of my tether,’ but nurses from MacMillan Cancer Support then realised he was reacting to medication and his treatment was changed. He had now been cancer free for almost seven years. He said he pledged to help the charity and had his head shaved at the Max Headroom salon in Market Street, raising £200 so far.
“I wanted to say thank you to the doctors and nurses who saved my life and were there for me through a difficult time,” he added.
“I wanted to give something back.”
