FIREFIGHTERS searched the River Ouse in York on Sunday morning following reports that someone was in the water and might need assistance.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews from York, Acomb and Huntington went down to the river at just after 10am with the service's rescue boat, after being asked to provide assistance by police.
Nobody was found and a spokesman said on Sunday evening: "It was later confirmed a male had entered the river, but had been traced to be safe and well."
The search came just a week after a young man drowned in the river near Ouse Bridge.
