A WOMAN and her dog were bitten in an attack while walking with her young son in North Yorkshire.
The incident happened in Thornton-Le-Moor, Northallerton, on Wednesday, June 22, at about 3.30pm when the woman and her four-year-old son were walking their dog with a friend.
Police said a black Alsatian-type dog approached the woman's pet and bit it, causing a puncture wound to its leg. When the woman tried to separate them, the black dog bit her hand, causing cuts.
The male owner of the Alsation then approached and removed his dog and walked away from the incident. Police said he was in his forties with dark, greying hair and wore a leather jacket.
Anyone who saw the incident or recognises the description of the owner or dog should phone 101, email adam.gatenby@northyorkshire.pnn.police quoting reference number 12160113227.
Police also advised dog walkers in the area to take care if they are approached by other dogs, and to ensure animals are kept under control at all times.
