A SHOPKEEPER was threatened with a knife and robbed in his store.

Police say two men reportedly went into the e-cigarette shop in Newborough, Scarborough, at about 10.35am on Thursday and threatened the manager with a knife.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "They forced him to empty the safe of a quantity of cash. One of the men then punched the manager before they fled with the safe and till takings."

One of the men is described as 6ft 3ins - 6ft 4ins, of slim build, wearing a black hooded top, a black bandana covering his face, and a baseball cap. The other man is described as 5ft 10ins - 5ft 11ins, of a stockier build, wearing similar clothing but possibly a purple bandana covering his face.

Police believe the men turned left down Newborough after leaving the shop.
