THE article on Bootham Park Hospital by mental health expert David Smith (The Press, June 8) was full of common sense, independent professional suggestions.

A copy should be sent to every board member of the many (too many?) public bodies that have an input in the running of mental health in the York area.

In deciding the future location of the much needed facility, the vested self-interests of each body will lead to delay and the possibility of it being in a totally inappropriate place.

As a concerned York resident, I am sure Mr Smith would gladly give his time free to head up a decision making committee with the power to quickly decide where the facility is situated.
