I WRITE in reference to former Tory leader Cllr Chris Steward’s criticism of Labour’s “Never kissed a Tory” stickers at York Pride (Letters, June 24).

Those of us that know Chris know he’s never one to pass up an opportunity to make any and every issue party political.

His using a letter supporting the York Pride event as a means to attack Labour being one such example, which is disappointing and not quite in the spirit of the event.

I’ve generally found Chris to have a good sense of humour but in this instance it appears to have completely deserted him. The stickers are a bit of fun, nothing more, nothing less.

But stoking hate and division? Really Chris, you can do better than this.
