GUESTS who were evacuated from a hotel near York Minster after a small fire broke out in a kitchen have been allowed back inside.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said it was called to the Dean Court Hotel in Duncombe Place just after 4.30pm yesterday.
A spokesman said the fire was extinguished and crews stayed behind to damp it down.
Hotel general manager Simon Murphy said there was a small fire on a tray which was extinguished before firefighters arrived.
He said guests were later allowed back in the hotel, which was able to operate again as normal.
