A STAR-STUDDED charity concert was held at York's Grand Opera House over the weekend.

York Rocks Against Cancer at the Grand Opera House was hosted by Chris Chittell, known to soap lovers everywhere as Eric Pollard of Emmerdale and featured special guests Rick Witter and Chris Helme.

On stage alongside Chris Chittell were his fellow Emmerdale stars Gemma Atkinson (Carly Hope) and Michelle Hardwick (Vanessa Woodfield), who make up two thirds of the talented Emmerdolls as well as the New York Brass Band, a New Orleans-inspired outfit fresh from two appearances at Glastonbury.

Party band The Superlicks delivered some high-octane musical magic, and the bill also featured Beth McCarthy, who appeared on The Voice, York covers band Sister Madly, the Attitude Dance Club and Minster Conspiracy, a group of talented young musicians.

Proceeds from the event will go towards York Against Cancer’s important work in cancer care, research and education.
