A YORK woman was found with 78 wraps of heroin in her underwear when police searched her home.

Donna Hudson, 38, was caught red handed with the drugs, but received a 12-month conditional discharge at York Crown Court today after a judge agreed she was turning her life around.

Her co-defendant Simon Winterburn, with whom she had had a relationship, was also due to be sentenced, but failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Hudson had admitted possessing heroin and cocaine at an earlier hearing, while Winterburn, 36, had pleaded guilty to possessing both drugs with intent to supply.

Matthew Collins, prosecuting, said police carried out a search warrant on Hudson’s home in Rawdon Avenue, Tang Hall, on June 7, 2014.

Officers found Hudson and Winterburn plus a third man, who was taking heroin.

The defendants ran upstairs, Winterburn into a bedroom and Hudson into a bathroom.

Hudson was strip-searched and 78 wraps of heroin found in her underwear.

Elsewhere in the house, police found crack cocaine, £400 cash and a set of scales and plastic bags.

Hudson said she had been given the drugs to look after by Winterburn.

Judge Neil Davey QC told Hudson: “You got involved with a wholly unsuitable person called Simon Winterburn.

“I have no doubt that you acted under the influence of Mr Winterburn.

“There has been no further offending since June 2014 and I’m quite satisfied that you are getting your life back on track and that’s of credit to you.”
