A FLOOD roadshow will be in York tomorrow with help and advice on how people can keep their homes and businesses safe.

The Flood Advisory Service is bringing its 40ft, state of the art roadshow trailer to Morrison's car park on Foss Islands Road, to give out independent advice on coping with flooding.

The not for profit organisation has been working with the City of York Council to make sure families, residents and businesses can get the advice and information they need after the Boxing Day floods.

Cllr Andrew Waller, York's executive member for the environment, said: ""Many people are still working through the recovery from the flood and wanting to know more about how they can make their homes more resilient.

"There is a wide range of products available and so we want people to be informed as much as possible for when they come to a decision about what to do in their own property."

Tomorrow [Thursday, May 5] Flood Advisory Service staff will be on hand with council workers and the Environment Agency to answer questions on specific flood risks in and around York. They will also be able to direct people to support, advice and funding, help people sign up for flood warnings and help them make their homes or businesses more resilient and resistant to flooding.

Cllr Waller added: "Supporting residents and businesses affected by the floods continues to be our priority, so we welcome the Flood Advisory Service roadshows which forms part of the process to give local residents information."

The roadshow will be open between 10am and 6.30pm, and more information about the Flood Advisory Service is at www.floodadvisoryservice.co.uk.
