ALTHOUGH the Green Party opposed the idea of creating the role of Police and Crime Commissioner because of a lack of accountability, we do believe it is important to get out and vote on May 5.
North Yorkshire has a low crime rate but the city of York and the surrounding area needs sufficient police visible on the streets and in our communities.
As elected representatives in York, we want to see a police commissioner who will support our community policing team and who understands urban issues.
Cllr Andy D’Agorne, Cllr Dave Taylor and Cllr Denise Craghill, York Green Party
