JUST recently my wife had a relapse of her bi-polar disorder and was admitted to hospital in Durham.

This was a massive inconvenience as I still had to work and was unable to see her every day.

When she had previous relapses she went to Bootham Park, where I was able to see her every day.

While I would certainly like to know who was responsible for allowing Bootham Park to get into such bad condition, it is about time that it was at least patched up and made fit for use until a brand new facility could be built.

When I visited my wife in Durham I was most impressed with the bright, modern, airy facility that it was and thought this is just what York needs.

An ideal location would be somewhere near the A1237, but not too far out of York for transport. Let’s stop the talking and have some urgent action on this.

If a mental health unit can be built in Durham then one can be built right here in York too.
