PUPILS at a York primary school look the part for PE lessons thanks to a sponsorship deal with a multinational company.
All children in Years 1 to 6 at Haxby Road Primary Academy were given PE bags, t-shirts and shorts by Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate, which employs 25 staff in York.
“We’re delighted to be able to help the local community and especially the children,” said Drew Hackett, plant manager with the company.
“The children were so happy when we told them they would have their own PE kit for free,” said Helen Suter, from the school’s family and support team.
“It will be labelled and kept at school for them and we’ll look after the washing.”
Head of school Zoe Lightfoot said: “This is very much appreciated.
“We are all about raising aspiration and this helps makes the children really feel part of the school.”
