WET weather could not stop these motorbike riders strutting their stuff at Elvington Airfield.

The venue near York will host the motorbike Wheelie World Championship on August 20 and 21, with today designated an official media and practice day.

Although the rain meant not much action took place, York motorcyclist Tom Swales and monowheel rider Tom Anable, from Lincolnshire, were happy to pose for the cameras.

August's world championship will see the the rider that travels the fastest, usually over 200 mph, in the wheelie position for a kilometre declared the winner.

It is one of more than 40 automotive events organised by Yorkshire-based Straightliners during 2016.

The company is also hosting Ten of the Best (TOTB) at Elvington Airfield on July 30th and 31st - a performance road car event aimed at finding the best all round car and drivers in Europe.

It returns to Elvington on September 17 and 18 for its Top Speed weekend when a jet-powered hearse, a motorised portaloo and a snowmobile are all expected to perform.
