A WOMAN was punched in the face during a robbery in Tadcaster.

The woman, who is in her forties, was walking between Manor Road and Wighill Lane at just before 8.30am on Friday when she was approached by a man who grabbed her handbag and punched her in the face when she tried to resist.

The suspect was white, aged in his twenties, wearing a blue tracksuit and riding a blue cycle. The victim’s handbag contained her purse, a quantity of cash and her Samsung mobile phone.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the victim did not require hospital treatment, but was very shaken up by the robbery.
