STALLHOLDERS are being given a final call to sign up for York's first Fashion Village in Parliament Street.

The Fashion Village will be housed in a huge marquee as part of the annual festival of style and shopping - Fashion City York (FCY).

Now in its fifth year, FCY will take place from Thursday, April 21 to Sunday, April 24.

For the first time, a huge marquee will be set up in Parliament Street to host the Fashion Village featuring a range of independent retailers. It will also become the venue for key events in the programme, including mini catwalk shows and styling workshops.

Exhibitors in the Fashion Village will include Blossom and Belle, Paper Doll, Jo Bagshaw jewellery and Petra Bradley prints.

Retailers still have time to sing up for the Fashion Village, as there are a last few stalls still available.

Angela Horner, of Fashion City York, said the stalls would be open on Friday from 10am-9pm, Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-4pm, priced at £60 per day. "Security is provided on Friday and Saturday night," added Angela.

A range of independent boutiques as well as big-name stores have already signed up for the weekend, including Browns, Fenwick, Hobbs, Topshop, M&S, Warehouse and Paper Doll.

The fashion fiesta will begin with a VIP launch sponsored and hosted by Fenwick and Carluccio's.

The catwalk area of the marquee will host demos and workshops on hair, beauty and fashion styling, including how to pick the right clothes for your body shape.

Fenwick will also be staging “live windows” with models showing off the latest looks for spring at its store in Coppergate.

Browns on Davygate will have Jockey underwear models on parade as well as bra-fitting sessions.

Topshop plans make-up demos as well as a gift-with-purchase offer while Hobbs will offer in-store styling as well as gift-with purchase.

Other in-store events include live art with Holly Cawte in Jigsaw on Stonegate, while Cycle Heaven on Hospital Fields Road, off Fulford Road, will be showing off its range of cycle clothing and accessories.

There will also be a selfie competition at Topman and a draw to win a £200 Modula handbag from Browns.

Many stores will be offering discounts over the weekend - giving fashion lovers even more reason to shop in York that weekend. Look out for the Fashion City York voucher booklet that will include discounts for Burgins Perfumery, Blake & Butler hair and beauty salon, Topshop, Long Tall Sally, Bettys, Slug and Lettuce, Miss Selfridge and Browns.
