THE NHS organisation which runs mental health services in York and Selby has announced the appointment of its new chief executive.

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) has appointed Colin Martin to lead the organisation when its current chief executive, Martin Barkley, retires from the role at the end of April.

TEWV provides mental health and learning disability services in County Durham, Darlington, the Tees Valley and most of North Yorkshire.

Mr Martin said: “I am delighted to have been given this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started in my new role and building upon the excellent work that is already happening at the Trust."

Currently the Trust’s deputy chief executive and director of finance, Mr Martin has over 25 years’ experience working in the NHS and local government.
