THE demolition of a house in Haxby which neighboured a property destroyed by a gas explosion has begun.
Almost a month on from the explosion in Springwood which killed Paul Wilmott in the early hours of February 19, a demolition crew started work on the house next door.
It has previously been suggested that up to four properties may need to be demolished due to damage sustained in the fatal explosion, but with insurance companies and surveyors ultimately responsible for the decision.
Councillor Tony Richardson said the families of those affected were slowly coming to terms with the aftermath of the explosion, and a meeting will be held this weekend which he hoped could help.
More to follow.
