PASSENGERS flying out of Leeds Bradford Airport have the best chance of avoiding delays, according to new figures.

The Civil Aviation Authority said the airport had been named for the second consecutive quarter as the UK airport having the highest percentage of on time flights and also the airport registering the largest year on year improvement.

The analysis covered the third quarter of 2015 and included on time performance statistics from airports across the UK, including five near London and 19 regional airports.

Leeds Bradford Airport's on time performance was up by 3 percentage points on the third quarter of 2014, making it one of only five airports registering any year on year improvement.

Passengers had an average delay of only 10 minutes, whilst the figure across all UK airports was 15 minutes.

Aviation development director Tony Hallwood said the airport had short taxi times to the runway, departure gates no more than a five minutes walk from security, new boarding zones and an airport team that was dedicated to improving customer service.
