A CONFERENCE is taking place in York next week to help people learn how to protect their homes from future floods.
MP Rachael Maskell is hosting the event on Friday, March 11 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Priory Street Centre, to give people chance to speak to different organisations who responded to the Boxing Day floods.
There will be people present from City of York Council, the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water, the National Flood Forum, North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, insurance scheme Flood Re and BT.
The first hour will see speakers from the agencies talking about how they plan to deal with future problems and manage the land, while the second hour be a drop in session to allow people to speak to the different representatives.
Representatives from Flood: Re have been asked to attend to ensure that residents understand the new insurance scheme that commences from 1 April, and it is a good chance raise concerns about insurance premiums.
