POLICE and Trading Standards officers in North Yorkshire have received a number of reports of "aggressive practices by mobile fish sellers".
North Yorkshire Police said the reports had mainly been received in the Hambleton and Richmond areas.
A spokesman said: "The usual method they adopt is to ask the consumer if they like fish and then produce a large amount of fish and demand payment in excess of £100 for fish the consumer does not want or need, but feels pressurised into buying."
Anyone who has been affected by these traders or has information which could help identify them should phone police on 101 or North Yorkshire Trading Standards on 03454 040560.
