ABOUT 25 campaigners staged a 'die-in' tonight in York city centre in protest at British bombing in Syria.
Protesters waving 'Don't attack Syria' banners laid down on the wet and cold flagstones of St Helen's Square - near the Mansion House - to help illustrate the potential impact of bombing on Syrian citizens.
Graham Martin, of campaign group York Against The War, said: "We have taken to lying on the ground as a way of symbolising the innocent lives that will be lost in the bombing campaign that (Prime Minister) Cameron has taken us into.
"While for many people out tonight Christmas shopping its a festive time, for the people who live in places like Raqqa in Syria this is a very nervous time, as they face being the civilian victims of a war they didn't ask for."
