ORREL, Fitzpatrick, Potter – all members of the police authority and police and crime panel.
Now we have Ashley Mason, deputy chair of the P&C panel, asking the public to sign a petition objecting to cutbacks of police and funding.
Perhaps he suffers, like myself, from “short-term memory loss”.
So to remind him, question, was the increase in the precept for 2015/16 1.99 per cent or ten per cent or even 20 per cent? Reply, none.
However, I will point out to him under the new pay scale for police officers, NYP-PCC are saving about £6,000 per year on new police officers.
So since the end of 2013, with an average of 75 new officers per year, NYP-PCC has saved some £1.7 million, which would pay for about 56 police officers (where’s the money going?).
I would suggest to Mr Mason that he read in depth this year’s budget.
It states reserves but not investments.
