I SEE once again where cyclists are being favoured (The Press, November 18).
Thirty six traffic offence reports, whatever they are, were issued to cyclists who were riding without lights.
They were given a slap on the wrist and issued with free lights and high visibility vests so they could get home safely.
When I say free, it was said in the article that the initiative was funded by City of York Council, in other words the council taxpayer.
What happens to these free gifts when they get home? Are they returned to be used next time when cyclists are caught breaking the law or, as I suspect, are they used until the batteries run out then dumped into the dustbin?
No problem they will receive another set next time.
This was tried last year and it is obvious that the message has not got through.
Incidentally, can I be issued with a high visibility vest so that the cyclists riding on the footpaths with no lights can see me in the dark?
