BUS passengers in York are reminded that changes to several services take effect today.

First York has reversed some earlier changes, following complaints, and made other revisions.

The firm said in October that it had reviewed the changes it made in August, and was now making further amendments.

What does it mean for you?

Number 1: The service from Chapelfields to Wigginton will have a revised timetable to improve reliability, and there will be new early journeys from Bishopthorpe and Dunnington.

Number 4: This will only now operate between Acomb and York. There will be a new timetable aimed at improving reliability but passengers will have to change and catch the Number 6 to get to Osbaldwick and the university.

Number 6: The direct service from Clifton Moor and York Hospital to Tang Hall and the University of York is restored. The service will run from Clifton Moor to the Theatre Royal, then Lendal Bridge, Rougier Street, Osbaldwick, Tang Hall and the University.

Number 10: The service from Poppleton to Stamford Bridge will have a revised, simpler timetable, meaning buses will leave at the same time past each hour, and the service will also call via Battleflats Way at Stamford Bridge. There had been complaints that buses departed at different times past each hour, which was harder for passengers to remember.

Will Pearson, business manager for First York, said last month that many of the August changes were well received and said the company had been happy to make further changes following public feedback.
