YORK'S newest pub opened on Friday night.
Leeds Brewery has converted the old Plunkets restaurant building in High Petergate into The Eagle and Child.
The company tweeted on Friday afternoon that it would be open that evening.

As reported previously in The Press, the company is reviving an historic York pub name, with a pub having operated under that name in Shambles from the 1700s until 1925 (below). Another of the same name was in Pavement in the 16th century.
