ONE of York's biggest Bonfire Night fireworks displays has sold out.

The York Maze Fireworks to Music Spectacular, an advance ticket only event in Elvington, will be choreographed to theme tunes from favourite TV shows including Strictly come Dancing and Thunderbirds. Organisers are warning people without tickets not to turn up on the night hoping to get in.

Those unable to go to the Maze display can still visit a traditional bonfire and fireworks display at the Ebor Inn in Main Street, Bishopthorpe, where hot food will be served from 6pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and fireworks start at 7.30pm, with adults paying £2.50 and children £1.50 for tickets from behind the bar on on the door.

The annual Bonfire and Firework Spectacular will also be staged on Bonfire Night at the Poppleton Centre on Main Street, Upper Poppleton, with a hogroast, hot dogs, soup, mulled wine, a bar and music from a live band.

On Saturday night, you can go to the fireworks and bonfire at Rawcliffe Country Park in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity, with food and drink, a hog roast, a display of fire service equipment, stalls and music and marching from the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Pipe Band.

First York is running its Rawcliffe Bar Park&Ride buses for an additional 30 minutes until 9pm, to make it possible for people to leave their cars at home and come by bus, although the car park will also remain open longer than usual, until 9pm, to accommodate the end of the event.

Entry will cost £7 for adults and £3 for children aged three and over, with under-3s admitted free of charge. Young people aged 17 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be bought from all Park&Ride offices, for which the council has waived a charge, and from York, Acomb and Huntingdon fire stations during weekday office hours, and also from The Press reception desk in Walmgate during office hours, but for cash only.

Dunnington's bonfire night also takes place on Saturday, with 'quiet' fireworks for children at 5.45 before a bigger display, as well as live music and food, later on.

Harrogate Round Table says it will hold one of the largest charity firework displays across the UK from 6.30pm on Saturday at Oatlands Stray, with hot food and drinks served all night and a bonfire.
