PUPILS parents and teachers from Archbishop of York Junior School have been given a gold star for reducing the number of car journeys around the area.
The Modeshift STARS (sustainable travel accreditation and road safety for schools) scheme helps schools across the country get sustainable travel into their classes.
Headteacher Jonathan Green said: “We have worked incredibly hard to achieve this award and it has been something that the whole school community has bought into. We are all thrilled and incredibly proud to have achieved this very special award.”
The council's transport boss Cllr Ian Gillies added: "It’s great to see that pupils, parents and teachers from Archbishop of York junior School have really got on board with the Modeshift STARS scheme.
