SIMONE Felice's Sunday night concert in York at the Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, not surprisingly has sold out.

"We're very proud to be hosting Simone in the tiny confines of The Black Swan," says Please Please You gig promoter Joe Coates. "His last York show sold out in a much bigger room, so you couldn't hang about if you wanted to witness this Sunday's special event. We're promoting this show with The Black Swan Folk Club, who've been been delivering a weekly folk club and much, much more for over 30 years and deserve your support."

Simone Felice was a founding member of Catskill Mountain band The Felice Brothers, whose seminal self-titled album remains one of the most influential works of this century's indie- folk revival.

"In the spring of 2010, Simone underwent emergency open-heart surgery to halt the degenerative effects of a childhood fever. It was this dance with death – coupled with a need to tell his own story – which prompted him to walk the solo path," says Joe.

In the summer, Felice released his new live double album, From The Violent Banks Of The Kaaterskill, featuring The Felice Brothers, on Mighty Hudson Records. "This special anthology showcases selected works from a decade of writing, truly capturing Simone's rare gift as a songsmith, poet and visionary," says Joe.

Sunday's show will start at 7.30pm.
