A WOMAN has been ordered to pay £800 after she moved house and left a pile of rubbish at the back of her old home in Goole.

Brooke England, formerly of Jackson Street, left furniture, children’s toys and personal items including photographs and information about a business, in a heap at the back of the house.

Miss England, now of Doncaster, pleaded guilty to depositing waste on land without permission when she appeared before Beverley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 29.

She was fined £200, ordered to pay £446.56 costs, a £180 criminal court charge and a £20 victim surcharge.

The court heard East Riding of Yorkshire Council was called to a report of fly-tipping in Jackson Street, Goole, on June 15 this year.

Miss England apologised and told the court she had moved house to Doncaster two days after putting the rubbish at the back of her house in Jackson Street.

She told the court she had left the waste behind while she hired a van to move it but when she returned, the council had already removed the waste.

After the case East Riding's head of streetscene services Mike Featherby said: “All reports of fly-tipping are investigated by the council and any evidence found will be used to bring a prosecution.

“Residents have a duty of care to make sure their waste is disposed of properly.”
