TESCO has apologised to a shocked customer after she found a spider in her bananas.
The woman was shopping in the Askham Bar supermarket today when the dead eight-legged creepy crawlie fell out of the bunch.
Reports on Facebook named the Arachnid as a breed of tarantula, but this has not been confirmed by the shopping giant, who said they have contacted Rentokil to come and collect the spider.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “We want to assure customers that we set ourselves the highest standards for the quality of our food and there are a number of checks in place, however, given the freshness of our produce this sort thing can happen on very rare occasions.
"Our team apologised to the customer who pointed this incident out and gave her a bunch of flowers”.
