LOCALS and regulars from The Melbourne pub in York teamed up to give its beer garden a bright new look.
They gathered the walls last Friday, armed with paintbrushes and rollers.
Publican Shane Micklethwaite said: "It was great that people came to support The Melbourne, even folks like Mick Wood who came over from Auden House in his wheelchair to get started early on the painting."
Fishergate councillor Dave Taylor added, "As the pub is going to be doing weekend barbecues this summer I asked the Lord Mayor of York to come down to The Melbourne on Sunday 28 June and she, and the Civic Party, will be here around 3pm to join in fundraising for one of the Lord Mayor's charities Dementia Friends. Residents wanted to brighten-up the walls of the beer garden and formed 'the terracotta army' to give it a lick of paint."
