THINGS have come a long way when it comes to affording access for disabled people, but City of York Council reckons many people aren't aware how easy it is to visit our major cultural sites, which is why it is recommending an app that offers information on the city's most accessible ones.
We think this is a good idea. Disability provisions shouldn't just mean ramps and wider doors, because those with sight or hearing issues have as much right as anyone to access York's culture and heritage.
We therefore hope this measure will go some way towards advertising how accessible our museums and theatres really are.
