SHOPPERS at a York supermarket have been urged to donate to an annual food drive.
Tesco is running the sixth annual Neighbourhood Food Collection, from Thursday, July 2, to Sunday, July 5, with all donations going to local and national foodbanks.
Volunteers will ask customers to pick up an item of food such as UHT or powdered milk, tinned meat, fish or vegetables, and long-life fruit juice before donating it at the end of their shop.
York foodbank will then sort donations into emergency parcels containing three days’ supply of nutritionally-balanced food which will be given to local men, women and children in crisis.
